China Glaze On Safari

China Glaze’s Fall 2012 0ffering is called On Safari. It’s chock full cremes, shimmers and glitters.

China Glaze On Safari is quite the collection – as I said, it’s full of cremes, shimmers and glitters. Even better? It’s going to be a giveaway this week. Why? Because it’s July, my birth month and my anniversary month…why not celebrate with a giveaway every week? So this first giveaway is China Glaze’s On Safari — All twelve colors!

The deadline for entry will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Please see the Rafflecopter widget for end time and date.

That said, let’s get down to the brass tacks, shall we?

Overall, the formulas were superb for the On Safari effort. There were a few chunky ones that needed a second coat, but generally it was in line with the formula from their Spring Electro Pop collection. The polish dried fairly fast so I didn’t have to sit and be bored while waiting – always a good thing.

Now, on to the pictures! As always, you can click on the thumbnails to see them in their original size.

Exotic Encounter - As some of you know, I’m a huge reader of smut and the name conjures up some kind of erotica you can find on my iPad. Sadly, this color isn’t that exotic to me. In the bottle it looks teal. In the shade shot it looks very teal, but in the sun shot below, it looks a bit more green. The picture doesn’t do this color justice.

Desert Sun – This doesn’t quite remind me of the sun in any way…more like pumpkin.

Adventure Red-y – It’s a pretty opaque red and I was surprised at how it went on like buttah with the first coat.

Kalahari Kiss – This is one of those odd shades of yellow that ends up looking a bit…buttery on me. It’s actually quite nice. It’s like the creme version of Classic Camel.

Left to Right: Call of the Wild – Elephant Walk – Prey Tell – Man Hunt

Call of The Wild – Call of the Wild and Prey Tell are very similar, except COTW has a brown base. It’s very vampy.

Elephant Walk – This is a cool toned gray. I’m not a fan of gray colored polishes, but this has a very faint shimmer running through it. You can barely see it in the pictures, but it’s there.

Prey Tell – Prey Tell is similar to COTW, but with a red base. I was having flashbacks to Chanel’s old school Vamp…except this one is 3-Free and has a faster drying time!

Man Hunt – I’m digging this blue that went on opaque in two perfectly medium coats.

Left to Right: Jungle Queen – I Herd That – I’m Not Lion – Purr-Fect Plum

Jungle Queen – A gorgeous purple gray with this shimmer that…hey now. I’ve seen this before…I’ve included a picture below.

I Herd That – Ok, this is an awesome glitter! Two coats and it was this incredibly dense super tiny glitter that really shines in person.

I’m Not Lion – Shiny, shiny! It’s a beautiful silver glitter polish. Like IHT, it’s an incredibly dense super tiny glitter that doesn’t photograph well. In person it’s absolutely superb.

Purr-Fect Plum – A great creme that didn’t look very plum on me – more like a raspberry.

China Glaze Jungle Queen vs Chanel Paradoxal

China Glaze Jungle Queen vs Chanel Paradoxal So…can you tell which is which?

Left to Right: Jungle Queen – Paradoxal – Jungle Queen – Paradoxal

Both are a gorgeous dusty purple grey. The only real difference is that Paradoxal is a hint lighter than JQ and P has a more pronounced shimmer. If you missed/skipped Paradoxal because of the hefty price tag, this is a great alternative.
