Dior 751 Marilyn Diorific Vernis

Dior Grand Bal Collection for Holiday 2012 is simple, yet smashing. Why? See behind the jump!

This collection of polishes is, indeed, a Grand Ball…right down to their shapes.

I have a confession to make about the swatches of this collection. Yes, they’re mine. But I did something slightly different. I didn’t use a proper base coat. I actually did use a base coat, but it’s non-traditional. I used Elmer’s Glue. Yes, you read correctly – Elmer’s Glue as my base coat.

I wanted to swatch these quickly and painlessly. I had heard from some girls in a nail polish group that they’ve been using Elmer’s so I thought I’d give it a shot…and guess what? IT ROCKS. It’s even better when using it on a glitter mani. No more soaking a cotton ball in acetone and waiting. This was all about the paint and peel. It was fun. I had lovely flashbacks to my childhood.

Anyway, Elmer’s glue saved the day for swatching. I hope you keep that in mind for glitter manicures.

This shade of red is not only glorious, but it’s beautiful. I’ll be wearing this for a while. This is two coats using Elmer’s Glue as a bsecoat and Poshe as a fast drying top coat. Formula was superb!

Diva is this lovely black polish with small smatterings of micro fine gold glitter…and it’s a color I’ve seen before. It’s very similar to Chanel’s Black Satin and Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Iconoclast. Formula on this was great and quick drying. Opaque in two very thin coats.

This color is friggin’ FAAAAAABULOUS in person. My swatches for this particular shade don’t do it justice. I got all excited and ended up putting on 3 coats right on top of each other without even giving it time to dry. DOH! That’s why you’ll see bubbles. My bad. I was surprised at how this color looked on me – it was absolutely gorgeous…and I regretted having to peel it off. BOO. No worries, I’ll be wearing this again very soon.

This color is also something that I was so impressed and surprised by. Three coats that dried quickly and frankly, looked very heavenly on my nails. In the shade, this color has an ethereal quality that I like. Sadly, because it’s so frosty/shimmery, I had streaky marks that drove me BATTY.

I loved this collection and Dior is honestly one of those brands I get all SQUEEEE over.
