Oatmeal Brulee

This Sunday, I made a different kind of breakfast. Normally Sunday breakfast is potatoes, eggs and bacon. Sometimes toast makes an appearance.

I kind of burned it, but it was delicious nonetheless. Though you can’t see it, there is oatmeal under the custard.

I got this recipe from Kathleen, the woman who owns and runs the bed and breakfast we stayed at when we had our super fancy dinner at The French Laundry at the end of March. The name of the B&B is called Oleander House. She is also located next door to Mustards Grill, just in case you can’t find it!

I’ve never had oatmeal brulee before and it was quite the treat. I hope you like it as much as I do. Not pictured are the fruits I put on top of it when this was done cooking…We just kind of dug in, so trying to get a pretty shot of the oatmeal brulee was pointless as it was totally demolished.

My husband fell in love with this recipe and I hope you do, too! It’s a nice Sunday treat and makes a lovely change from the regular big Sunday breakfast routine.

What makes this recipe a total winner is that it is so easy to make – all you need are old fashioned oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs and heavy cream. Not only is it dead easy, it’s fast and so simple.
