Blueberry Scones

It’s a rainy and kind of sunny Sunday. It’s one of those strange dichotomies we rarely have in California, but it didn’t deter from my normal Sunday routine.

What is that? Why, I bake, of course!

However, that normal Sunday thing was slightly waylaid thanks to Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Iconic/Ironic collection landing in mailbox on Friday. The rain, in theory, should have put me off on swatching, but it didn’t.

Anyway, while these bad babies were baking, I painted my nails…

Don’t hate. Instead, stare at the pictures and download the recipe at the end of the post after the jump!

Scone

Freshly slapped down and then kneaded very gently. It was then gently molded into this round disc, waiting to be cut.

Reporting for baking duty, ma’am! We will be finished in 18 to 20 minutes. After that, we are all yours to do as you please.

The finished product. Don’t hate my Sunday ritual!

I usually do a streusel topping, but this time I decided to leave it out since it would’ve been extra carbs that hubby didn’t want or need for the day. I admit that I like it with a cinnamon streusel topping. If you have downloaded the recipe I did for my blueberry coffee cake, use that streusel topping and omit the coconut from it…and also halve the recipe. Or, just brush the topping of the scones (before they go into the oven, of course) with milk/cream and then sprinkle regular granulated sugar on top. Mmm. That’s also good!

Warm scones for breakfast with coffee…what a great way to start a Sunday.

Hope you like the recipe…happy, rainy, nail polish-y Sunday to me! Hopefully to you, as well.
