China Glaze – Octa Gone Wild and QT

Friday, 18 March, 2011

I’ve been slacking. I fully admit it, though I hang my head in shame when I say why. I’m sadly sucked into the world of a video game I’m playing – Dragon Age 2. This is my first time playing an RPG (role playing game). Traditionally, I’ve played MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role playing game) – EverQuest and WoW to name a couple. So this time I’m playing DA2 on the XBox. I’ve been bound and determined to finish the game, but I’m about 75% through the game and I realized…I hate how my character is relating to another. What have I done? Why, I’ve scrapped the game and started a new one…and am discovering new quests and relationships because I’ve changed one line of dialogue. So while thrilled, I’m also going, “OMG. What have I gotten into?!”

Anyway, since I didn’t do a post yesterday I’m throwing in the color along with my Friday Red.

I am showing you my attempt at doing a week of Holographic polish…here are 2 polishes from China Glaze – Octa Gone Wild and QT

This was one of those colors that really surprised me. I thought it would be a weak weak holo because the flakes were so big. It’s not as small as I normally like, but I just love this color. I think having this color years ago is what put me on my holographic kick. Really, it was insane! I still need a few colors, but this is so pretty. It shimmers and shines so beautifully, don’t you think?

I love the rainbow shimmer/shine you can see on my middle finger. If you can find a bottle of this, grab it and run. Seriously. Do it. Even if you have to knock over a sweet old lady in the process. All is fair in love, war and nail polish. Remember that.

Now this little cheeky number isn’t quite a red, but it is darn close. Well, it is in my head so don’t tell me any differently, ok? Smile, nod your head and then call me a crazy color blind old bat behind my back. I prefer it that way, thanks. Look at this pretty holo shining through in the shade. How can one resist this? HOW?!

The holo shows up here pretty darn nicely in sunlight.

I haven’t even hit on a fraction of the holos I want to swatch. I’m also debating on having a giveaway of the OMG collection – I found it in my Helmer when I was doing a re-org.

A fellow polish addict couldn’t believe I was thinking of giving it away…because she was worried that the person who won would end up tossing it on eBay. While true, I like to think that a true polish lover would win and keep it forever and ever because it’s something they genuinely would keep in their collection.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have a giveaway of this or should I just hoard it?

Terrible, terrible idea. The best idea would be just to give them to me. I will love them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seriously, though… I didn’t even think of the possibility of someone selling them on eBay. That would be a really crappy move.

Maybe you should set up a competition as part of the giveaway. That way you know a fellow polish addict/lover will use the prize rather than cash out on Ebay. (Plus I am in dire need for BFF…and my collection will be complete–if anyone has a spare…email me)

OMG! Such a temptation to hoard them…would be a stellar giveaway though! I have a few colors from the collection, and they are so holo-licious! ๐Ÿ˜€

That would be a fun giveaway that I’m sure a lot of people would be grateful for (:

Those were the 2 colors I wanted other than the 2 I got! I wish they should come back. ๐Ÿ™
    Especially Octa!

I would make a giveaway, but not in full sets. Because most people who want those already managed to find a couple, so giving it out in sets will most likely make doubles and those ones might end up on ebay. While if you give them away one by one or by 2-sets, people will apply only for those they want and it’ll give more chance to others, and make way more people happy ๐Ÿ™‚

I never got into the Dragon Age games–I think I didn’t really like the characters in the first one and thus never even tried the second. I work at a company that makes MMORPGs and so many of my coworkers are either ranting or raving about DA2. Hahah!

Personally, I’d love a giveaway for those, mostly because I really want them for myself. Sadly, I didn’t get back into nail polish until late last year, so it looks like I’ve missed all the best colors. (Boohoo.)

This is my first time playing an RPG on a console. My husband is a huge gamer (he also works at a video game company here in the Bay Area and blogs, too! He is Kaadian in my blog roll if you’re interested) and brought the game home, intending to play it. I went, “What the heck…why not?”

However, I’ve burned myself out on it. The 3rd try and fighting the same first real boss mob (stupid stone thing) and because my stats have changed slightly and I’ve changed my spell point allotment, it’s a lot harder to beat him this time around. I gave up last night at midnight after the 4th try. I may play more once I don’t feel irritated with the game.

What MMORPG is your company working on? ๐Ÿ˜€

Star Trek Online and Champions Online are two of our games. We’ve got another in development right now, Neverwinter, but I’m not sure it’s really going for the traditional MMORPG genre. (I’m not on that team, which is why the vision/plan is hazy for me.)

Personally I play almost only console games lately, unless I’m playing the game I work on (STO). Though lately it’s Okamiden on the DS. haha!

Oh…ok. I know your company! You’ve done City of…I’ve played that, too. ๐Ÿ™‚ A good friend of ours came from that company, too. The video game industry is such a small world.

You’re a Bay Area girl, too? If so, have you hit a nail polish store here in San Jose? I yelped about it and even made a list if you ever want to see. =)

Yeah, City of, though that’s not ours anymore. ๐Ÿ™‚ And it’s so true about the game industry being small — you can’t go anywhere without finding someone you know at least 2nd degree.

I found what is likely the nail polish heaven over on King St. (I think it’s King.) I have to keep myself from going there every week. I’d love to see your list, though!
