I can, however, paint polish onto my nails. Even then it’s dubious at best. That said, I happened to stumble upon a tutorial by Simple Little Pleasures that really made me decide to give this a shot. It’s called a Reciprocal Gradient. I wish I had a bigger and wider nail bed, but I worked with what I had.
She used colors I had
Zoya Pinta (darkest)
Zoya Malia (base and middle color)
Zoya Purity (white), however I used my Cult Nails color Tempest because I couldn’t remember where I put Purity as it wasn’t in my Zoya drawer. I just now remembered, while typing. Shhh…
When I saw her tutorial, I was so moved. The colors she used practically glowed for me! I had to try and replicate it…and quickly discovered that I have small nail beds (I knew that already, but it really hit home) and I don’t have long nails like she does.
Much as I love long nails, I am incapable of growing mine long. They can be sporty length at best and that is very lucky.
As always, please right click on the image and choose Open In New Tab. When in the new tab, click on the image (it will triple in size!) to view the photo in its original size.
The next two pictures are ones I actually got wrong from the tutorial. It’s supposed to go light to dark, not dark to light. It still looks pretty fab.
Whew! Finally got it right in the next two shots…Either way, it rocks!
