Stylish Blogger Award

Sunday, 23 January, 2011

I have been tagged for the Stylish Blogger Award by a fellow Bay Area girl – Jessica from Playing with Polish – thank you! :-)

The Stylish Blogger Award Rules

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.

4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

Seven Things About Myself

  1. When I am not thinking about nail polish, I am thinking about gemstones and jewelry. I am thinking of ways to get a new design out there, even if it is through sketching.
  2. I love the Real Housewives franchise. I hate Jersey Shore. It makes me sad because I realize that it’s people within my age range that have raised these trash skank grotesque freaks on my tv. That is my hell. Jersey Shore playing on my tv 24/7 on every channel.
  3. I bake every Sunday. I need to bake on a Sunday because it prepares me for the week ahead. If I don’t bake, I feel totally disoriented until I do.
  4. I wish I had longer fingers and a bigger nail bed.
  5. I have more power tools than a girl really should…all so I can make my jewelry come to life.
  6. I have a cat that I am massively allergic to. I have a dog that makes me giggle because he’s so comical.
  7. My husband is pretty darn awesome – he is an avid amateur photographer who has a keen eye for capturing things I always miss. You can find him in my blog roll to the right if you’re interested. 🙂 He’s also been immortalized in a video game (Command and Conquer’s Tiberian Sun) as the voice of the engineer…all because he’s Scottish.

15 Awesome, Stylish bloggers in no particular order…

  1. My cousin Lia (even if she hasn’t updated in a while), because she really is awesome. Come see Brown Eyed Lia’s Blog.
  2. Janice of the Smith’s Project – she made her goal for 2010 and is now being rewarded in 2011. Way to go, Janice! 🙂
  3. Casa de Berry – not only a college friend, but a fellow beauty addict as well.
  4. Toes That Twinkle
  5. Lacquered Mom – because she has way prettier hands than I do
  6. Nail York City – the name alone gets me! 🙂
  7. Mariana Maya – a stylish photographer here in the Bay Area.
  8. Jessica v Polish
  9. Fashion Polish
  10. Magic Maid
  11. Candy Coated Tips – absolutely fabulous girl with gorgeous nail beds.
  12. Vex In The City – I love this London girl!
  13. Gilded Nails
  14. Escape Road – I love reading the musings between this stylish girl and her geeky husband. Many LOL-worthy moments.
  15. Clothes, Cosmetics and Chat

China Glaze – Below Deck vs Channelesque

Tuesday, 18 January, 2011

Below Deck is from China Glaze’s new Spring 2011 collection, Anchors Away. When China Glaze discontinued Channelesque, it was a sad day for nail polish lovers. I happened to find a bottle of it in the clearance bin of the nail polish guy I frequent in Arizona. I got it for a $1.50. Had I known it was discontinued, I’d have picked up the other bottle!

However, Below Deck is a good substitute.

Come on in and see why I think it’s a good thing!

Don’t be a hater!

Sunday, 16 January, 2011

Don’t be a hater…don’t be jealous of my haul today. I wasn’t expecting the nail polish that I got and frankly, I’m still pinching myself with joy and disbelief.

OPI – Comet Loves Cupid

Friday, 14 January, 2011

I honestly can’t believe that I’ve been sitting on this for such a long time. Like over a year. This was part of OPI’s 2009 Holiday Collection called Holiday Wishes.

This is what happens when you buy stuff in chunks of 20-40 bottles at a time worrying you won’t have enough polishes to swatch for nearly everyday of the week.

I think my problem regarding that has been taken care of. For now.

This shade of red vaguely reminded me of a candy cane red with a tinge of orange in it.

You be the judge!

NFU Oh – #66

Thursday, 13 January, 2011

Holographic Thursday!

I showed you NFU Oh #65 last week…this is its way cool, lightly greener, but not meaner sister to #66.

Again, my only complaint about this is the odd application and the inability for it to be even remotely easy to work with. Drying time is like #65 – fast. Incredibly fast. Zippily fast. Well, you get the idea.
