BB Couture – Daisy Dweller

Wednesday, 11 August, 2010

This shade is prime example of why I should never even attempt to wear yellow…yellow girls and yellow nail polish don’t mix. Let me be more specific, yellow girls who have my skin tone/shade really have no business wearing yellow polish of any kind. That’s my opinion.

I bought this (and I normally would never willingly buy yellow polish, by the way) because it was such a pretty yellow in the bottle. It still is. However, someway, somehow my skin tone has managed to mangle and make this color look so pathetically awful on me.

Formula: a bit on the runny side so I tried to make up for it to get an opaque shade…using 3 very heavy handed coats. It’s why you will see bubbling on the ring finger. Oops. My bad. I love how BB Couture’s polish dries quickly and this was no exception – barring my ring finger, of course. 😉

Rescue Beauty Lounge – Teal

Tuesday, 10 August, 2010

I was weeding out swatches that I had posted and hadn’t posted…well, hello Teal. I forgot I had swatched you. Back in March. Talk about epic fail on my part.

Checked my notes on the formula – dried slower than some of the other RBLs I’ve had, but it also dried faster than some of the others, too. Nice, high gloss finish. 2 coats were used.

I love teal – one of my new favorite colors.

MAC – Black Enough

Monday, 9 August, 2010

I thought I didn’t have black nail polish, but it seems I do…I didn’t know that this color was a matte when I purchased it. Doesn’t matter – I can put a shiny top coat on it. 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve worn black.

The formula dried quickly, despite the lack of a fast drying top coat. All coats were reasonably dry and fairly good to go in half an hour.

Chanel – Paradoxal

Friday, 6 August, 2010

Happy Friday! I had to end the week on a color that makes me happy…

I received this for my birthday after I played with it in Nordstrom a few weeks ago. I wanted this color. Seriously obsessed over this color. Thought I would DIE if I didn’t get this color. Was seriously going to maim the person closest to me if I didn’t get this color.

I got it and … this formula is perfect. Much better than previous Chanels. It didn’t bubble, it dried fast and…it’s so me. I’ve made no secret that my first true nail polish crush came about 15 years ago with Chanel’s Rouge Noir (aka Vamp) and Brown Sugar. I seriously could not get enough of those colors…and then they were discontinued.

Here we are again and I want to have a back up bottle of this shade…I am going to wear this until the bottle no longer has polish in it! This color is something that spoke to me and I hate the thought of spending $23 on a bottle of polish when I can purchase so many more brands that are historically better in their formulas than Chanel.

Ok, I’ll shut up and just show you the fabulousness of this color.

BB Couture For Men – Drive Shaft

Thursday, 5 August, 2010

This color looks a bit coppery, a bit peach, a bit pink and a bit bronze on me – all around awesome sauce. It does lean slightly towards the warmer side so I have to be careful about what I wear with this.

BB Couture has, once again, nailed it with their formula. Two applications and this didn’t bubble. If only all polishes could be like this. Polish brush isn’t jacked up like that-company-that-shall-not-be-named. 😉

BB Couture – Signs of Spring

Wednesday, 4 August, 2010

Another BB Couture polish – yay! 🙂

I love shades of blue like this. This particular one is a creme with some very fine glitter in it thrown for good measure. I’ve received a bulk of nail polish from BB Couture and I find I am never really happy with their glitter polishes. I don’t know what it is and I can’t put my finger on it, but it bothers me. I don’t want to make them sound like amateurs, but I definitely prefer their cremes and their shimmers but not the glitter. Sorry for all the BB Couture fans out there. I don’t mean to upset you.

BB Couture – Horned Devil

Tuesday, 3 August, 2010

I loved this color. In the bottle.

I complained about a color by China Glaze (Strawberry Fields) that aged me and freaked me out to no end because it really made me look like crazy old South Beach, FL, lady. This had a similar effect, but I felt it was Los Angeles, CA, old lady. I kid you not, I swear that this color brought out every single line and never-seen-before line out in my hands. My hands looked wrinkled. Decrepit. LEATHERY. Leathery. Seriously. How does that happen?

Pity the color sucked on me because application was flawless – it’s a jelly base flecked with fine silver glitter. The glitter isn’t so abundant that it overpowers the polish. It is distributed evenly with the brush strokes. I did two coats. See the pictures below!

I think the shade shot is much prettier than the sunlight. It got washed out. 🙁

BB Couture For Men – Universal Joint

Monday, 2 August, 2010

I am starting on yet another green tangent. I love this green. It’s rich and it’s brought to life even more with the shimmer running through it.

BB Couture got it right – this is fast drying and a dream to apply. Thank you, BB Couture – you make me happy.

I felt this color looked best in the shade, but in sunlight it also held up pretty well and didn’t look washed out or diluted.

It looked like a silver shimmer running through it in the top picture, but when in the sun it looks gold. I like that!
