Earth Day – 2 Greens – StrangeBeautiful and Rescue Beauty Lounge

Thursday, 22 April, 2010

Yes, I have fallen prey to the Earth Day thing…but maybe it’s because I was born in raised in the Bay Area and we take our Earth Day seriously, as does the rest of California and parts of the U.S. as well as the rest of the world.

I am showing you two greens – the first is from the StrangeBeautiful Collection Volume I. That was sent to me by my very awesome friend Kelly. Thank you! When we’re in Vegas I definitely owe you several drinks. 🙂 The green from the StrangeBeautiful collection didn’t have a name so I generically called it…green. Hah. Good thing no one’s ever asked me to name a nail polish or anything. The other is a Rescue Beauty Lounge green called Recycle. C’est très à propos, n’est-ce pas? Oui!

These two colors are 3 free and vegan. Rock on!

Finally, kudos to Zoya for re-instating (however brief it is) their nail polish exchange from April 22, 2010 – June 30, 2010. Take advantage of it! Get rid of your old bottles of polish (except those that fall under the Zoya umbrella!) and Zoya will exchange it for a color of your choice from any of their collections. How freakin’ awesome is that? If you haven’t used Zoya before, I suggest you give this promo a shot – it’s well worth it. I’d suggest going for Ivanka – it’s green, shiny and sparkly which is perfect for your toes or your tips.

Go green, Happy Earth Day, Love Your Mother and all that.

This polish went on like a DREAM. No problems whatsoever in application – 2 extremely light coats. I could’ve actually gotten away with a single coat. It dried quickly, too! I spent about 5 minutes between each coat and each of them dried completely. How awesome is that for girls on the go?

A gorgeous green that really defies most greens for me. The color was awesome, but the formula was a lot easier than my previous bottles of RBL. 2 coats – completely opaque!

NFU Oh 59

*purrs* Hello, lover!

This color is truly something that you’ve got to see to believe. The pictures don’t even do it justice. First off, it’s a deeper, darker color in person. Second, it really sparkles and pops, if you get the chance to see it firsthand. I am tempted to say this almost outshines #51 and #52, not quite but it really does give the two colors a good run for their money.

Look at the flashes of orange and green glitter!

Unfortunately, the sunlight totally washed out the shot, but I was also working with limited time, too. It was about to start raining and it was an extremely brief patch of sun. The shade shot definitely got the best of the two!

I got the most prettiest surprise today…as some or all of you know, yesterday (Monday) was pretty craptastic. Today wasn’t shaping up to be much better, but the doorbell rang and I saw the FedEx man scurrying off. I saw 2 boxes at the door. They were for ME!

…and they contained Volume I of Strange Beautiful. I can’t wait to swatch these!

Thank you, Kelly. You fed the nail polish beast!

Love,

Carina

Rescue Beauty Lounge – Purple Haze

Monday, 19 April, 2010

I’ve been on a bit of a purple/lavender polish kick lately. Not sure why…But here we go. I promised a fellow nail polish lover that I will post a picture of the purple color wheel I have, showcasing my embarrassing amount of purple polish I’ve collected.

Here is a polish on me! It’s not quite purple and it’s not quite lavender, but it’s a gorgeous shade!

Zoya – Ivanka – Sparkle Collection – Summer 2010

Friday, 16 April, 2010

Part of the Sparkle collection, this lushtastic green is simply to be envied when worn. The shot in the shade best captures Ivanka’s spirit until you see it in person. Sunlight washed it out, but to be honest, I think my little camera couldn’t hold up to its beauty when put in natural light. It’s truly one of the colors you’ve got to get out of this collection in addition to Mimi and Charla.

Click pics to see the full detail.

My pointer finger and middle finger really capture what Ivanka’s all about. The color and pop is always ON. It never stops and it lasted for a good week. The *only* chipping I had was on my right hand’s index finger…and it’s only because I filed my nail down. Other than that, wear was excellent!

Sunlight washed it out and showed my deficiencies in nail polish application. 😀 Nonetheless, one color I’m going to get a back-up of because I get the feeling I’m going to be wearing this a lot during the summer – either on my toes or on my nails when I’m not swatching.

Zoya – Zavita – Suede

Thursday, 15 April, 2010

Shots of this gorgeous purple suede with top coat and the way it’s meant to be worn, without topcoat.

Very, very pretty!

Please forgive the hangnails – this is my right hand that takes a lot of abuse. That said, it’s really pretty with topcoat.

I think I prefer this shade the way it’s meant to be – worn as a suede. Wonder what people will prefer if they buy this shade? What I like about Zoya is that the suede bottles are actually matte so you can find it pretty quickly in your collection if you put all your Zoyas together.

Zoya – Mimi – Summer 2010 collection – Sparkle

Wednesday, 14 April, 2010

Such a gorgeous shade of PURPLE! LOVE LOVE L O V E it. I swatched the whole collection, but I have to put it up…sorry for the delay. I get waylaid by my other colors. I promise they’ll all be up soon.

This shot best represents the true color of this polish. You can see the awesome flecks of gold glitter. Very subtle, but overall makes it’s such a beautiful color when worn.

The sun washes out the color a bit, but makes the glitter pop. It’s stunning, yes? YES.
