Rescue Beauty Lounge – Anne and Jane

Wednesday, 22 September, 2010

I was going to write something witty about the last two colors of RBL’s The Real Housewives of the Tudor Dyntasty, but I decided against it. I’m not feeling it right now, but I do like these colors.

Unlike the other 2 Catherines, these colors were runny and took a while to dry. Both of these colors are three coaters because they were thin coating, even when I went super heavy handed on the second coat.

Seriously pretty and gorgeous almost but not quite grey green. At least it looks grey green on me! Definitely a great color that Ji’s pulled off.

Crazy up close shot of the color in the bottle.

Super faint shimmer in this shot. So faint it was that I honestly thought it was the camera messing up. Then I looked at it again.

You can see the shimmer here and even the shimmer while it’s in the bottle. Very pretty. However, the color really isn’t me – doesn’t look good at all. Maybe I’ll learn to like the neutral colors, but this type of neutral doesn’t entice me. 🙁

Up close shot of the color in the bottle.

A Tale of Two Catherines by Rescue Beauty Lounge

Monday, 20 September, 2010

These landed on my doorstep today, bumping back poor Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance vs China Glaze’s Mummy May I. Those colors should show up on Wednesday.

The two colors that bumped it back? Rescue Beauty Lounge’s The Real Housewives of the Tudor Dynasty – Catherine and Catherine H. These 2 colors are part of their Fall 2010 collections.

The formula was quick drying but not as high gloss as their cremes. No worries, out of the 4 colors (the other 2 will be posted tomorrow) these two are really my favorite!

See below for the yumminess!

This beautiful blue grey purple is what I was hoping Zoya’s Kelly would’ve been on me. This color was gorgeous, even with the shimmer that ran through it.

I love this purple grey…it’s gorgeous. What do you think?

L’oreal – Femme Noir

Friday, 17 September, 2010

Happy Friday! You know what that means – it’s Red Nail Polish Friday and this is an offering I have for you…

Part of L’oreal’s Fall 2010 Limited Edition Collection (I believe it’s part of Fashion Week, but I grabbed these off the display and ran before taking a picture).

Formula was easy to work with and dried quickly.

It’s a lovely dark red that looks vampy in the shade, but in the sunlight it shimmers beautifully. I did my best to capture the prettiness and I think I did a decent job. What do you think?

L’oreal – Luminescence

Thursday, 16 September, 2010

This is a gorgeous purple, but I’ve seen it before. While I like having it, I was hoping for something a bit more…than just a dark nail polish with purple shimmer. But it’s still a yummy, plummy purple.

Luminescence is part of L’oreal’s Limited Fall 2010 Collection.

Formula was good and dried quickly. I had no problems with application and the brush was fine.

See below.

Obligatory label shot. 😀

L’oreal – Delicate Dusk

Wednesday, 15 September, 2010

Part of the Limited Edition Color of Hope for Fall 2010, this color was gorgeous. I had no problems with application.

It’s a gorgeous light dusky purple/violet. I had to have it – even if it it is L’oreal.

So perty! 🙂

Epic Fail Manis

Tuesday, 14 September, 2010

I do try things on my nails other than just swatching and wearing colors. So horrified I was by my attempts, I took pics with my phone. I didn’t bother busting out with the camera trying to take a perfect picture of my failure.

As you can see from below…

Epic fail moon manicure taken last year…I used China Glaze’s Dorothy Who? and China Glaze’s Tinsel.

Epic fail gradient manicure.

This was the most frustrating for me. I kept at it for 3 days. This was my final attempt. I said “F— it.” after my last try. It doesn’t help that I have tiny nail beds.

I used Finger Paints’ Blissfully Blue, OPI’s Done Out In Deco, China Glaze’s Grape Juice and Finger Paints’ Easle-y Entertained (it’s the dark glitter).

Finally…this one wasn’t so hideous, but it still was a massive disappointment.

Nail tape n00b alert! Yea, I used nail tape. What of it? I knew better than to try and freehand it…well, after I had freehanded it. I used Finger Paints’ Harvest Hues and OPI’s Damone Roberts 1968.

Orly – Out of This World

Monday, 13 September, 2010

Somewhere along the way, I’ve racked up this huge collection of purple polishes. I am a bit confused given that purple is not even my favorite color. When I last checked, I had 18 bottles of polish. Now I have closer to 30. How the heck did that happen?

Because the purples spring out and get me when I least expect it.

OOTH is no exception. In fact, I wore this when I went to see Craig Ferguson this past Saturday at Davies Symphony Hall. I am loathe to take this color off my nails. I’m thinking of foregoing swatching for the week. This color is that gorgeous for me.

It’s this  nearly black plum creme base with some lovely fine microglitter that just floats to the top and sits there, making the polish look purple…so effin’ gorgeous. It really is.

Wouldn’t you agree with me? Please do! 🙂

China Glaze – Riveter Rouge

Friday, 10 September, 2010

Hello and welcome to Red Nail Polish Friday.

Part of the China Glaze Vintage Vixen Fall 2010 collection, I found this frosty red very pretty. It was almost Christmas-y to me, but it was more towards a fall color of red, not that Merry red stuff. This has a slight blue undertone, but not enough to make it a true red. It’s a lovely rich color that I find will be on my toes quite often this fall.

Forumula was fast drying and opaque in record time.

China Glaze definitely nailed this one correctly.
