Chanel Brown Sugar

Is a polish from 1994-1995 considered old school? In my head it is, but it may not be so for others. Anyway, enough with the debate over semantics. Let’s look at my treasure.

I know I’ve gone on and on about Chanel’s Brown Sugar. I did a search for Brown Sugar in my blog and I found three instances of where it’s mentioned. I know I’d have mentioned it a lot more but editing saved you from having to read about it everyday. Now friends of mine, on the other hand. I’ve more than bent their ears on it. Frankly, I think I think I abused them. LOL.

I’ll dig up Violette and let you look at them to see. I will eventually do a side by side comparison, but for now here is my one true nail polish love.

The formula on this was much better than Violette, which I found odd because this is an old polish. Like from 1995 old. My bottle of Violette is from…hm. I purchased it when we were living in Scotland so I’d say it’s from about 2004-2005.

However, this bottle was kept it in tip top shape and more than likely worn once then put in the back of a drawer and promptly forgotten about. It dried quickly and still was fairly stinky, but I didn’t care. Look ma – no bubbles!

They look very similar. Almost dupe-ish in the shade, but once in the sunlight there is no mistaking which one is prettier and which is my preference!

I know nail polish friends have told me there are dupes for Brown Sugar…I tried a few, but it didn’t feel the same to me. Plus, their skin tones are so different from mine, it never looked the same when I’d put it on. Now that I’ve got the original in my hands once more, I can honestly say there is no comparison at all.

I am a happier nail polish girl again.
