I had waited for this color, but one of my BFFs from college totally pulled through for me last year and purchased this in Paris for me…and through a series of foiled plans to get together, I finally got my grubby little paws on this bottle back in December.

The weather hadn’t been playing nice, but one day it did…and here is what I have for you.

Formula was fantastic – quick drying. I love cremes and this is no exception. No boo boo shimmer to mess this color up.

This color does not fail on delivery. I was truly surprised at how gorgeous this really was. I wore it for a few days and just marveled at the beauty. Marveled at how fabulous it looked on me. *weeps* If you can, run out and get this color because this is one of those Chanels that you will love to have in your collection ten years from now. That and Paradoxal. 😉 I love Paradoxal…must get another bottle of it. I gave my back-up away, but no regrets because it went to a wonderful person!

China Glaze – Below Deck vs Channelesque

Tuesday, 18 January, 2011

Below Deck is from China Glaze’s new Spring 2011 collection, Anchors Away. When China Glaze discontinued Channelesque, it was a sad day for nail polish lovers. I happened to find a bottle of it in the clearance bin of the nail polish guy I frequent in Arizona. I got it for a $1.50. Had I known it was discontinued, I’d have picked up the other bottle!

However, Below Deck is a good substitute.

Come on in and see why I think it’s a good thing!

L’oreal – Delicate Dusk

Wednesday, 15 September, 2010

Part of the Limited Edition Color of Hope for Fall 2010, this color was gorgeous. I had no problems with application.

It’s a gorgeous light dusky purple/violet. I had to have it – even if it it is L’oreal.

So perty! 🙂

Essie – Chinchilly

I love this color…how can you not? It’s a creme. It’s a mushroomy/taupe-y color. It dried quickly. It didn’t bubble. In a word? Fabulous! (Saying that in my best Tim Gunn voice, btw.)

Please excuse my bad manicure application on my right hand.

China Glaze – Channelesque

Thursday, 20 May, 2010

I found this in a clearance bin for $1.50. Had I known how truly and deeply I’d fall for this color, I’d have purchased all of them. Yea, I get kind of like that. I know that Channelesque has been discussed many a time, but I love how it looks on me.

MAC – Wham, Bam, Glam

Monday, 10 May, 2010

Let me preface this with one simple statement: I LOVE THIS COLOR.

Application was like any other matte for me – moody and pissy. I can never get them to look nice and even, as you’ll see from application pics with the brush strokes so evident on the nail. This color rocked it matte, but when I put on a shiny top coat? Swoonworthy. Seriously. It’s love. I have this fondness for mushroomy/taupe-y colors.

This isn’t quite like the traditional mattes I’ve been seeing out there – it’s a bit like a Ginger & Liz when this dried…more like the finish of a candle than a flat, dull matte.

Small note: I really am not a left handed person and I need to stop trying to paint colors on my right hand. Please excuse the fountain pen ink on my hand – my pen exploded because I dropped it and I thought I had cleaned it off pretty well. Clearly I didn’t.

Lamer excuses out of the way, in comes the pictures.

See? It’s pretty matte…

But it’s even prettier with a top coat, don’t you think?

It's like…Butter!

Monday, 8 March, 2010

Ah…it is like butta! The colors are fabulous, the application flawless…the smell isn’t as revolting as other polishes, thank God. It still smells like nail polish, but it’s a lighter smell — is that even possible? 🙂

One of those eponymous greys for this spring. It’s similar to Chanel’s Particuliere and Color Club’s High Society. This has a bit more grey than the others…it’s nice, but I def prefer Tramp Stamp.

I don’t know why but this color really had love written all over for me. It looks like a light raisin color in the sun, but it’s not. It’s truly a rich, gorgeous purple-y brown…freaking fabulous. The color is closer to real life in the shade shot. Isn’t it beautiful?

Rebel Debutante spring 2010

Color Club Spring 2010 – Rebel Debutante

Wednesday, 17 February, 2010

This is actually the first time I’ve willingly purchased Color Club. My fellow nail polish girlfriends have sent me bottles of the stuff and in turn, I’ve forwarded them on to other people.

I made the decision to buy when I saw the swatches on Scrangie’s blog…and I’ve got to say, I’m not impressed by the colors. Well, there are two that I like. There were 9 colors, but I only bought the 7 that enticed me the most…and if I could do it all over again, I’d probably only get 5.

Just a note – these pictures were taken with a mixture of sunlight and indoors. Normally I do my swatching during the day, but the sun set and I decided to finally try the light box set up hubby used for my jewelry. I used my same lil old camera and maybe it’s time for me to graduate to the big kids stuff…but anyway, this is my first time using the light box so please don’t be so harsh on me.

Who Are You Wearing?
Not one of my favorite colors. When I saw it in the bottle, I thought it could quite possibly be a dead ringer/sister/twin/dupe to my all time favorite OPI’s Tickle My France-y. Nope. Not a chance. While I appreciated the efforts put forth by Color Club, this didn’t do it for me.
Rebel Debutante
This is the name of the collection and I thought the signature color would be…well, kind of stand out. I was disappointed that it was a close to but not quite neon. I mean, it’s green and it looks pretty, but it wasn’t my cuppa.
Best Dressed
It’s a little too much brown going on for me…I can do my best mannequin hands impersonation with this color!

High Society
A very pretty mellow mushroom taupe color! I love these kinds of colors.

Uptown Girl
You can’t really see how pretty this color is – it’s a beautiful, rich purple creme…and I totes blew it with my incompetent light box skills. Sorry.

Ms. Socialite
Yea, I messed up on the name on the pic. Oops. 🙂 If I had been able to use the light box properly you would see this as a gorgeous purple plum. My bad.
Gossip Column
An epic fail on my part in trying to capture the prettiness of this color…it reminded me of a peacock kind of blue. Actually, I’ll take it back, both of the swatches are very true to life despite my ineptness with a light box.

Loved a handful of colors and the formula for that green wasn’t the best. For the most part all of them needed 3 coats but only Gossip Column and High Society were the ones that could get away with 2 coats.
For my first time with Color Club, I’m pretty happy.
