Sinful Colors – Irish Green and Green Ocean

Tuesday, 1 March, 2011

I can’t believe it’s March. Or that St Patrick’s Day is around the corner. I’ve received the usual inquiries about what we’re going to do for St Patty’s Day – are we going to go out drinking or are we going to stay home? The usual thing we do on days like this: we stay home.

Mr. Carinae and I are firm believers in the Karen Walker School of Thinking: Drinking during the holidays. So amateur.

However, just because we don’t go drinking on that particular day, it doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy the festivities that go on. I’m very early on these, but I wanted a little green on my Tuesday before I jaunt off to yoga class.

NFU Oh – #66

Thursday, 13 January, 2011

Holographic Thursday!

I showed you NFU Oh #65 last week…this is its way cool, lightly greener, but not meaner sister to #66.

Again, my only complaint about this is the odd application and the inability for it to be even remotely easy to work with. Drying time is like #65 – fast. Incredibly fast. Zippily fast. Well, you get the idea.

NFU Oh – 065

I had to take a picture of the bottom of the polish bottle because sometimes I forget when I swatch more than 3 in one day. 🙂 Now you know what I’m showing ya!

NFU Oh 50

Wednesday, 8 September, 2010

Like all of the NFU Ohs I have, I definitely like this. It’s very mild and you can see on my nails just how sheer this is. It’s like a sheer magenta jelly with big iridescent flakes thrown in for good measure. Definitely a color I would use for layering…I may have to swatch it later and show you! 🙂

NFU Oh – 55

Monday, 30 August, 2010

I swear to you…my NFU Oh stash is almost gone. I have lofty goals to add more, though. 😉 You know you love me.

This is a green that I like to use over some colors. It’s sheer and you may have seen me use it over a color in a swatch I did a while back. I’d link it, but I am feeling too lazy to cut and paste. It’s a little after midnight here and momma’s off to bed!

Hope you like this magical green…Happy Monday!

This shade shot makes me vaguely think of St. Patrick’s Day – what do you think?

NFU Oh #60

Tuesday, 20 July, 2010

Ok, I can’t believe that I haven’t put this up yet!

While this has a black jelly base, the glitter has some wonderful play that couldn’t be captured…but if you ever do decide to get this you will definitely NOT be let down.

You can click the thumbnail for a bigger picture, which in turn will take you to a slightly bigger version. If you click on the slightly bigger version, it will take you to the original size of the photo which is pretty darn hyoooooge. The disadvantage to that you will see my bad cuticles. 🙁

While you can’t see it, there is some wonderful green, blue, gold and orange play in the glitter. You can see the green and blue at the base of the bottle in the shade shot. Then on my nails in the picture above, you see the gold and orange come into play.

The sun washed out the shot…rather, the angle of which I let the sun hit my nails washed it out. I had a very blurry one that showed the colors in all their glory. I should’ve kept that one. Grrr…

NFU Oh #49

Monday, 19 July, 2010

I was going through my nail polish folders and … LOOK WHAT I FOUND! I honestly can’t believe I forgot I had swatched these back in March! Hello. What does that mean for you? It means another NFU Oh post after this – I promise you’re gonna love it! – and the rest of the week will be Rescue Beauty Lounge. 😀

It’s a faint peach base with thick salmon colored glitter…gorgeous. While you can wear it alone, it is definitely meant to be worn over dark colors. I wore it alone. Eventually I’ll put it over a dark color so you can see.

In the meantime, #49 in all its single glory. This dried quickly enough and I did 4 coats because I thought it would go on darker. Haha.

This vaguely reminded me of Nubar’s 2010 and Hidden Treasure, but only in terms of the glitter part.

See the pretty greenish/yellow reflection in the bottle? It’s not showing up on my nails but…hot damn is this one bangin’ color! If you can’t get your hands on Hidden Treasure or Nubar’s 2010, this makes up for it. While it’s not in a pale milky base like the other 2, this base is sheer enough (imo) for it to not make a discernible difference.

SpaRitual Spring 2010 – Believe Collection (Part I) and NFU Oh

Tuesday, 4 May, 2010

I purchased this collection two months ago and completely forgot about it. 🙁 Well, it was hidden…so out of sight, out of mind. I knew I had purchased it, but didn’t know where it had gone to. The room I share with the cat is where I also have my polish collection. I honestly thought the cat had done something to it. Turns out it was erstwhile hubby, moving things around while looking for a some random cord to connect something to his computer, but that’s another issue completely. I will say that he needs to join Cord Collectors Anonymous.

Anyway, I now present the first half of SpaRitual’s Spring 2010 collection called Believe. It came with these cute little charms with words and sayings on them like, “Wish”, “Believe” and “I Can”. You’ll even see a tag in one of my swatches!

I loved SpaRitual’s formula – it was even and smooth with a minimal chance of me messing it up – which I did. Can you spot the flaws on the application, aside from my obvious cuticle pull mishaps? 🙂 Formula was so easy to work with and it dried so fast I was a bit stunned. The brush on Spread Your Wings was a bit jacked – more bristles than the other bottles and at a strange 15 degree angle. I thought it was supposed to be like that until I noticed some bristles less than a millimeter longer than the rest in the bottle.

I split this collection into 2 – Part I is the ZOMG MUST SHOW YOU and Part II is I MUST SHOW YOU THESE LATER! In other words, the first part wowed me while the second part made me look and go, “Oh. ok. Not so bad.”

Enough of my nattering – here are the pics.

How gorgeous is this purple?! I love cremes and this purple creme makes my heart beat a little faster.

Despite the jacked up brush, this color really moved me. This is the shade of red that I love wearing. How can one NOT love wearing a color this luxurious?

Hello, green lover…*purrs* How beautiful is this? I didn’t have to do anything to this picture – just cropped it. The green looked exactly perfect and when I ran it through PhotoShop, it barely did anything to it to balance it out. When I had this one, this green shot straight to the #1 spot for my greens. IMO, this is the go to green for me. I used to dislike green polish, but the ones that have come out in the past couple of years have really made me change my mind.

Perfection in the sun, too.

Was playing about and put NFU Oh’s #51 on top. The sunlight washed it out, but it was a lovely combination. The NFU is lighter and what you can’t really is the dimensional depth the glitter added. I had a shade shot that was slightly blurry but even in that you couldn’t see the difference. You can really see it in person.
