Fun rainy Saturday, Part 1
Saturday, 6 August, 2011We roamed and had Indian food. Not quite like back in the US or in India. This food had a bit too much sweetness to it. For me to complain about it being sweet means it’s really sweet.
Anyway, we roamed and kept hearing all this crazy music. Saw floats and from a distance I kept seeing a rainbow flag…
I moved closer but the rainbow flag had moved on. I wanted a flag shot, so I got one of the Swedish flag instead.
By the way…That building behind the flag? That’s where Colin works.
OPI Flutter Collection (Part I)- Wing It! and Catch Me In Your Net / Zoya – Charla – Summer 2010
Sunday, 6 June, 2010So the first color I’m showing is called Wing It!
I’m not a fan of this shade. It’s a bit too sheer for my taste…to make matters worse, I feel this pink is a bit too youthful for me. Like Fairy Princess kind of pink for a little girl. What may camera failed to capture was the pretty iridescence of the glitter. It’s actually prettier than the actual base color! So while I was disappointed in this color, it was a bit too pink/too close to coral for my taste.
Look carefully at this color…isn’t it gorgeous? It is, isn’t it? Scroll down for the reality.

So here we are…literally dupes. You can’t see how gorgeous this (these) color(s) is(are) – it’s like mermaid scales. There is a slight green shimmer and gold glitter that runs through it. Absolutely gorgeous. What a pity that it’s a total dupe of Zoya’s Charla. So…surprise! If you weren’t able to get a hold of Charla, grab OPI’s Catch Me In Your Net.
Heck, here are the ding dang bottle shots!
The formula on this was runny and hard to work with. Both of the colors above were 2 coaters.
By nature, I abhor gold anything – jewelry, nail polish…you get the idea. Then I saw this…and had to have it. Go figure. Don’t know why I had to have it. Like I was going to stab someone if I didn’t have it kind of thing.
Now that I have it I go, “Oh. Can I have my money back?”
It was a lot more sheer than I expected it to be. It bubbled up on me because I did 4 coats. I gave up when I saw it bubbling. It took forever to dry in between coats. I took it off right after I swatched it. How sad. 🙁 Anyway, sadness below.
I think secretly in my mind I had a vision where it would be this stunning pink with gold shimmer on me. The kind that was so flattering that people would stop me and ask, “What color *is* that? It looks so wonderful on you!”
Sadly, I was mistaken. It aged me. Yes, that is exactly what happened. It aged me. Made my hands look more like old lady than cool hip chick.
What a pity. It’s still a gorgeous color. I may reserve it for my toes, but even then I worry I’ll look like I’m 80, not 30-something.
See the pretty golden glitter in the shade shot? You can actually see the pool of gold glitter where it says Oz. on the bottle. The color looks much better in the shade than in the sunlight shot below. Sunlight just completely wiped it out.
Formula was so good – fast drying and only a 2 coater.
Next week-ish/within the first 2 weeks in June I will do a contest giveaway.
First place winner will receive a bottle of Damone Roberts 1968, a bottle of Misa’s Dirty, Sexy, Money AND all 6 bottles of OPI’s Shrek Forever After Collection. Runner up will receive a bottle of Damone Roberts 1968. So stay tuned.
Here is Dirty, Sexy, Money on me. It’s going to be my manicure for the next few days since rain is in the forecast and I won’t be able to swatch.
Small Note: For those of you who mourned the loss of Trans Design and OPI, my fave nail polish seller in CA said their website is almost done…their prices will be 25 cents more than if you go into their store, but $4.25 for a bottle isn’t bad. I nearly fainted when I saw Zoya in the store, too! (For $3.75 a bottle.) We discussed what shipping fees would be but it sounds like it’s going to be pretty good. I’ll let you know more as soon as I find out more info.
Loved that the formula was so easy to apply and that it dried so quickly! Wonderfully opaque in two coats and it had a nice lovely high gloss. It was so shiny that I actually debated on a top coat (which I did anyway). It reminds me of Rescue Beauty Lounge’s 360, but not as dusky.
Hope you all have a good one!
This color really made me smile. It’s such a thick, dense glitter. I know it’s going to be a pain to remove from both hands, but I don’t care! Super pretty and in the sunlight? Oh baby! Tons of fire and sparkle. Lots of dizzying moments because I couldn’t stop staring at my fingers.
